Zambia's Coastal Erosion

Zambia has no risk for coastal erosion. The main reason for Zambia not having a risk for coastal erosion is due to the fact that the country is landlocked. A landlocked country means that it is completely surrounded by other countries with land and has no immediate access to the coast. I have attached a photo below which shows a map of Africa with Zambia in the middle with no coastal access.

However, I think it's quite important to note that Zambia does have quite a bit of erosion from its rivers specifically the Zambezi. This erosion can be referred to as bank erosion as it is on the river bank. Below I have attached two photos. The first photo shows a not as drastic erosion whereas the second shows a large amount of erosion. Both of these photos are of the Zambezi River.

  1. Hey, Emma. Wow, I must say that this is the most interesting blog I have ever read. Great job explaining about Zambia not being at risk for coastal erosions. I did not know that Zambia was mostly in the Inland areas and that it is less risky for coastal erosions. Keep up the good work on your blogs!!

  2. Very interesting read. What are their mitigation measures for that river erosion?
